The pandemic has done a number on all of us. We’ve been forced to isolate and social distance in ways never imagined. For many of us, we’ve also been forced to postpone or wait on personal grooming rituals like going to the hair salon, getting a facial or a fresh pedicure. And while I was okay with waiting on my hair and facial a few weeks longer, the need for my nails to be done was exacerbated by the fact that I was super preggo. If you’ve ever tried to paint your toe nails with a big pregnant belly, let me just tell you, it’s damn near impossible. But where there’s a will, there’s a way.
I can honestly say that when my nail salon closed its door due to COVID restrictions in 2020, I almost cried. What can I say? It’s one of my bi-monthly rituals spent away from the kiddos. A retreat from the crazy. A get away from the insanity. A fan of gel and SNS manicure for years due to their strength factor (2 weeks or more on my hands), I always felt more polished. There were some new products on the market that were supposedly as good as gel, but I did not want to invest in any equipment or spend a ton of money. I decided it was time to search out the best possible options for an at home spa treatment.
Enter: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel. Having never used an ‘at home’ gel product, this is about as good as it gets. Paint on 2 layers of the base coat color then wait for it to dry. This takes between 5-8 minutes depending on how thick of a coat you apply. If you have trouble steering, just dip a Q-tip in polish remover and swipe around your cuticles. Add the top coat and after about 2 minutes your nails are COMPLETELY dry and cured by natural light. Best of all, there’s no fancy lamps needed and you can remove it with regular polish remover. I highly recommend this product and at the time of writing this do not receive any financial compensation for my opinion.
