Every summer, I happily look forward to putting on my Mephisto sandals. Although in AZ I wear sandals year around, there’s something special about a new pair of summer footwear. In high school and college I would frequent Target and Macy’s for some cheap and chic summer sandals. My feet were stronger and I had no foot problems; the world of footwear was my oyster :).
After several years of dance, wearing heels, 2 pregnancies, and a few fractures, those cheaper sandals are no longer an option. That is why I still wear Mephisto sandals. My feet take abuse every day and it’s been so hard to find sandals that provide just as much support as my old lady orthotics. Made in Europe, Mephisto footwear is much loved by many international travelers and their feet.
What’s amazing to me about Mephisto is that the brand provides styles for younger clientele as well as the senior citizen crowd (you know that I mean). So while you might feel strange knowing that your grandparents also wear these shoes, you will be amazed at the chic styles. To date, I own 3 pairs that I wear frequently. I own 1 pair of ‘every day’ sandals (Harmony), one pair of ‘going out’ wedge sandals (Lissandra) and one pair of boots for work (Hazelina-they look like knock-off Yeezys). All are super comfortable and provide ample support to be worn all day.
Structurally, all Mephisto footwear is SOUND. In footwear I’ve noticed that you do indeed get what you pay for- these are not cheap, they are an investment. However, Mephisto does provide a robust resoling and refurbishing policy that many take advantage of for optimal performance. I have also taken part in the resoling of my sandals in the past and it does make them last a lot longer.
You can purchase many Mephisto shoes online, however, if you are able I highly recommend that you try them on in store. European sizes are slightly different and depending on the style, you may need a different size. The Mephisto store that I frequent in Scottsdale is located here. If you are local in AZ, I highly recommend this store as they are wonderful with customer service. On many occasions the owner of this store has literally found my size available and shipped the shoes directly to my house. There’s always someone inside the Scottsdale & Shea location to greet you and help with trying on shoes and if you call them on the phone, a real human being picks up- that is a big win in the year 2021.
