Hello! I hope that your summer is going well and that you are starting to relax and unwind. We’ve been traveling a little bit since we became recently vaccinated against COVID 19- more on that coming in future blog posts! There’s something special about summertime. It’s more relaxed in general and that means a more relaxed approach to beauty. As you may already know, I have been wearing Bobbi Brown cosmetics since high school and there’s no going back. Bobbi Brown is my preferred cosmetic provider of choice.
There’s a few reasons for this. The first is that Bobbi Brown was one of the primary mainstream cosmetic companies to create a line of makeup with yellow bases and undertones. They also created foundation colors that were 100% more inclusive of all people of color and shades. Estee Lauder and Clinique have always offered foundation lines with orange undertones which is very limiting if you have olive skin. Although my skin is light olive, it’s still hard to find foundations to match the color which is why I’ve been purchasing Bobbi Brown for so many years.
Another reason I love Bobbi Brown makeup is because of the amazing Shimmer Brick they offer! This shimmer brick does triple duty. I use it everyday as a blush, bronzer and highlighter. It’s fantastic for the summer because it goes on dry and lasts all day long. It’s not a powder that flies away after an hour which really counts as a working mom. It also comes in different shades to support different complexions. I use the Shimmer Brick in Rose color which is more pink than it’s other versions.
Beyond summer, I’ve been using this shimmer brick every day for over 5 years. It’s one of my favorites and it also comes in a mini version if you need one for travel. It does exceptionally well for dressing up or down and can be used on cheeks, brow bone and eyelids. It typically lasts me between 4-6 months and then I will purchase a new one.
